High Park Monterrey, Mexico

Architect
Rojkind Arquitectos

Overview Located in the industrial and northern city of Monterrey, Mexico. A city known for its majestic mountains and business mentality. This project with 12 stories above grade and 4 stories below grade was designed to take full advantage of its geographic location and to “foster the interaction between occupants”. The building’s main facade opens to the public plaza, while also stepping back as a way to promote interaction between individuals and the community.

Our Role
Studio NYL served as the structural engineer and facade designer.

Approach The project’s architecture required a 14” total structural floor depth while accommodating large column-free spaces and masses that do not consistently stack. Failing to maintain these constraints would have resulted in losing a floor of program which would have not been possible with the Proforma. The design utilized story deep trusses to provide for the thin structure that is required while being able to span up to 200 feet and some of the long cantilevers. The design of the trusses was closely integrated with the interior layouts to coordinate diagonals, door apertures and windows.
