  • Computational design

    Studio NYL’s computational design capabilities were born from the need to promote efficiency in our designs AND our design process. Our ability to merge form with analytics and export to graphic representations is an important aspect to our workflow and has enabled some of our most successful projects. We use advanced software including Rhino/Grasshopper and REVIT/Dynamo.

  • Digital fabrication

    Studio NYL has honed its digital fabrication skills by collaborating with world-renowned fabricators like Zahner and Branch Technologies. We understand how machine time, tooling, and costs can be optimized for a variety of materials including metals, structural steel, mass timber, GFRC, GFRG, Concrete form work, terra cotta, fiber reinforced polymers, and additive 3D Printed FRP-GFRC Composite Structures.

  • Panelization and modular construction

    Modular construction has grown in popularity thanks to its lower cost, ease of construction, and rapid timeline. Studio NYL has been practicing with Modular Construction for the last decade. Our team has helped design mega-panel construction projects such as MIT’s Site 4 tower as well as a 3-D modular hotel in Los Angeles.

  • Advanced analytics

    Our team conducts THERM, WUFI, Daylighting, and Finite Element Analysis to develop better data—and therefore better decisions—on performance within structures and facades to elevate interrelated comfort and climate goals.
