VF Corporation project completed

The VF Corporation, which is the parent company to many well known brands such as The North Face, Vans, Dickies, JanSport, Smartwood, Icebreaker, and others recently opened the doors of a new headquarters building located in downtown Denver.

Studio NYL served as the structural engineer, supporting project Oz Architecture.

As shared by Oz on their website, The VF brand is classic, high-quality, and values exploration of the earth. The new office space is a dynamic tribute to that. Incorporating natural materials throughout the building, the new space includes rammed earth walls, a bouldering wall and climbing wall, an altitude chamber, and other elements meant to exemplify the corporate culture. A digital tile wall highlights the lobby, as well as large boulders designed for sitting. A grand inner-connecting staircase leads to the other floors with several meeting spots designed to facilitate employee collaboration. And a 4th floor cafeteria leads to an outdoor patio with beautiful mountain and city views.

The building is LEED Platinum certified, and has also received Fitwel certification.

"We were engaged by OZ Architecture and the designer RAPT Studio to do the TI for VF Corporation. This included new at several locations in the building that inter-connected several floors. These required extensive re-framing and structural strengthening of the existing long-span beams and girders around them, plus design of the nr stairs and landings,” said Studio NYL Founding Principal Julian Lineham, We provided primary structural framing for a new interior rock-climbing wall, new gabion basket feature interior walls, support of a 35’ tall video screen in the lobby, and design of the lobby’s feature stair that incorporated touch-activated video screens integrated into the stair landing."
