The Frederick Gunn STEM School
Washington, CT
Architect Sasaki
Overview
Studio NYL provided enclosure design services on the Frederick Gunn school’s new STEM building. The well crafted building seamlessly integrates the rainscreen with the shade elements protecting the glazing on high solar intensity faces of the building. North faces accept greater transparency with long span curtain wall systems which open to the campus. Given the technical nature of the building and the direction from the school, the building is designed to set a high bar for performance on the campus. The project utilizes an efficient opaque envelope with triple-glazed curtain wall systems.
