His breadth and depth of expertise in technologies and strategies used around the world make his work unconventional and exciting.

Outside of the office, Julian loves spending time with family, traveling, hiking, camping, and reading.

Julian spent the first ten years of his career in London with some of England’s leading structural engineering firms: YRM Architects and Planners, Campbell Reith Hill, and Oscar Faber PLC. While in London, Julian led structural engineering teams on many notable projects including Microsoft UK’s prestigious headquarters campus, the redevelopment of the twelve-story historic structure No. 1 Princes Street in the heart of London, and the New British Embassy in Oman. He also worked on several international design competition entries.

In 1997, Julian moved to Colorado and immediately began developing relationship with leading architects in the region—readily sharing his passion for architecture and expertise in global design.

Julian’s extensive and diverse experience includes work on a wide range of building ages, sizes, types and forms. He uses both traditional structural materials (like steel, concrete, timber, and masonry), as well as non-traditional materials (aluminum, stainless steel, cast and wrought iron, composites, and straw bale) and enjoys combining structural systems in innovative ways to solve multiple problems.

Julian is on SEI’s Professional Community Board.  Julian is ICE Americas Representative on ICE Council, serving a second, three-year term.  He is also ICE’s Colorado Representative.  Julian chaired the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado/American Institute of Architects (AIA) Architectural Liaison committee for five years and chaired the Structural Engineering Certification Board for 4 years. He is a guest lecturer at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Denver, Boston Architectural College, and the American University of Sharjar, UAE. He was elevated to a fellow of ICE in 2017.  He was elevated to a fellow of SEI and ASCE in 2018.
