Strawbale Construction

In his personal experience, Julian Lineham, a founding principal of Studio NYL, engineered multiple strawbale homes and artist studios. Strawbale construction provides good insulation across the width of the bale, but the structural strength of a load bearing strawbale wall actually only derives from the interior and exterior stucco skin. Consequently, load bearing strawbale construction is limited to small building structures. Larger strawbale buildings utilize a post and beam construction method with strawbale panels acting as infill between the structural frame.
